Like I said it sort of fixes the issue for now, so I will vote your answer as helpful, but would appreciate an answer if the repeated installs will be fixed or if there is a better way I can fix the Touchpad driver issue.

It is constantly causing the wrong windows or programs to open and close at the most inopportune times. Theres a batch of registry entries for each users touchpad settings. Go to Dell support and try to find the Alps driver for the touchpad, and install it. To me identifying the ALPS Touchpad as a Synaptics without any way to revert back to the ALPS driver is a bug in the Windows Updater and or installer. Why having it on is the default I will never understand as it is absolutely the most annoying feature I have ever run in to. Using the software options method is not going to work for several reason one of which is that it seems to be a per user setting and I need to turn it off for ALL users in one quick. I want to install Windows 8 on my Windows 7 Sony Vaio laptop, however, this requires that I uninstall Alps pointing-device for Vaio, which the uninstall says. On the Latitude E7440 model, the hotkey is accessed by pressing Fn + F5.

But recently it upgraded to version 1809, and reverted to. With the version of Windows 10 that came with the computer, I easily found where I could disable the touchpad in Settings. Since every system is a little different, the method that follows using Touchpad settings should work for most if not everyone.
