Now, I know I am going to draw a ton of ire here about the 80% of the musicians I have known and where they stand on the otherwise technically relevance scale. In my experience as an electronics engineer, I never heard a 1 or a 0 make a sound on purpose. I am amazed at how people believe that certain 1s and 0s sound different.

This comment below is clearly from that group from the shallow end of the gene pool. He replied "But they need to fix that noisy clock" I gave up. You would think for $100k for a car, they could at least put a silent clock in - maybe even a digital one." I responded "Dr Gardner, I think the point is not that they have a very noisy clock, but they have a very quiet car".

They need to do something about that clock. This ad says that at 60 mph, the loudest sound in a Rolls Royce is the clock. In fact, I had a PhD Physicist as a boss once who was reading an ad for a Rolls Royce. Again, the smarter and more specialized they were, the less they understood about matters outside their specialty. I also spent 14 years in undergrad and grad school. Again, in many cases, the more specialized one was, the less they knew about anything outside their specialty. However, I have had the opportunity at various times in my career to work with some of the smartest people (as defined by education or success) - PhD physicists, mathematicians, petrophysicists, rocket scientists (I spent 3 years in missile seeker design in the late 70s early 80s), CEOs of multi-billion companies, economists. I have made more bad mistakes than 10 normal people would make in a lifetime.

Why even on this forum I read someone comment about how a person who knows how to operate a DAW had to be at the top 20% of the IQ in the US. I love em.īut I have to say that about 80% of the musicians I have known are somewhat naive in matters outside of music. First, some of my best friends are musicians.
